So, we've entered another phase of lockdown in Washington state which means...
MY GYM IS CLOSED AGAIN!!
It's frustrating when your plans get derailed by circumstances outside of your control. Even it if is for good reasons.
Fitness is challenging enough for most people when gyms are open.
With another phase of lockdown, we're forced to stretch the limits of our self-discipline to workout at home.
Some people excel at exercising from their house. I don't. I can do it, but I don't like it and tend to get better results at the gym.
Especially because I already live and work at my house 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year before COVID came to town.
The gym is more than a location to pursue physical fitness goals, it's an escape from monotonous insanity.
Anyway, if you're looking for effective workouts to do from home, here are two amazing resources that I use:
- Jump Rope Dudes
Jump Rope Dudes are two of the nicest, coolest dudes I know who take a simple, effective approach to whole body fitness centered around using weighted jump ropes. They have tons of free tutorials and workout routines on YouTube, and I used their program to lose 25 lbs in 2018.
Onnit is a supplement, equipment, and fitness brand with a top knotch library of on-demand video training programs centered around different at-home options:
- Steel mace
- Steel club
I've done the bodyweight, kettlebell, and barbell programs multiple times and they are solid workouts that fit into your day.
They may take our gyms, but they'll never take our fitness!!
FIT FINDS OF THE WEEK
I'm working on re-imagining this section to bring you more valuable resources each week.
All I've got for you this week is Greenlights by Matthew McConaughey. It's a memior spanning 35 years of journals and life as an actor, outlaw gentleman, and entrepreneur.
I recommend the audiobook, which read by the Lincoln Lawyer himself.
Thank you for subscribing to Fit Dad Life. If you know someone who would like it, please forward this to them and I’ll give you a virtual fist bump.
Move your body. 🏃
Clear your mind. 🤯
See you next time,
Dad: What kind of shoes do ninjas wear?
Kid: I don't know.
P.S. This newsletter is sponsored by Crossrope. I hate cardio, but jump rope is a blast because it’s fun, burns calories, AND you get the cardio benefits minus the boredom and joint pain.
